Eliza-Jane’s School Of Dance 6th Annual Concert
As I look back on 2016 and reminisce about the wonderful year it was, the highlight for me (and I’m sure for all the students), was the end of year concert! It was the dance school’s 6th concert (time flies) and was held at Pacific Hills.
The students worked so hard all year and in terms 3 and 4 we began our concert routines. There were new songs to hear and remember, new choreography to be taught and learnt, costumes to be tried on and many afternoons of sweating it out to make the concert amazing for the audience to enjoy.
To prepare for the concert, we had our stage rehearsal where all the students practiced the process behind the scenes and then rehearsed their awesome routines on stage. The next day, we had photo day, where the students got to wear their beautiful costumes and pose like ballerinas whilst being photographed. These special photos are memories that we can all cherish forever.
Then the concert day finally arrived! The students started arriving to the dressing rooms and setting up for the afternoon. The smell of hairspray filled the rooms and glitter and sequins were everywhere. It’s a wonderful atmosphere, with so many excited and nervous dancers getting ready and practicing and having fun with their dance family! Lights, camera, action! And the concert began! I was a very proud dance teacher watching side stage and seeing the progress the students had made along with their big smiles as they were having a ball. At the end of the concert we had our trophy presentation and I was very excited to award the perpetual trophies to 2 very dedicated dancers. Then all the other students received a special trophy. A highlight was when the pre schoolers were so happy with their trophies that they were putting their trophies together and saying ‘cheers’.
The 2016 concert really was a ‘Joyful Joyful’ time (as our finale song stated).
